The subject is intermittently unresponsive to external stimuli. Vital signs are normal. MRIs reveal heightened levels of stimulation and activity spikes in the amygdala.

When emerging from the catatonic state, the subject displays various delirious behaviours, including grasping for imaginary objects and excoriation to the extent that the hands, arms and chest are bloodied. The hands are clenched so tightly, the subject's nails are penetrating the palms.

For unit security, the subject is restrained, and wears a dental guard to avoid severing the tongue.
